Summary: A federal mandate requiring health plans to disclose price and cost-sharing information via Machine-Readable Files (MRFs). While these files contain negotiated rates and Medicare benchmarks, they are published in massive, technical formats that are impossible for a typical person to read, let alone open. This allows insurance companies to remain "compliant" with the letter of the law while keeping the actual data hidden from you in plain sight.
